Miskamasowin Foods Inc. - Pahkwesikan Bannock Mix (382g/200g)
Born and raised off-reserve in Treaty 8 Territory in Northern Alberta, I am a proud member of Sucker Creek First Nation. My roots are both Indigenous and settler — my father was a Scottish-Englishman, and my mother is a ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐤ ᐃᐢᑫᐧᐤ nêhiyaw-iskwêw (Cree woman), a survivor of residential schools and the Sixties Scoop.
Growing up, I didn’t have the chance to know my culture or my community. In the North during the ’80s and ’90s, it wasn’t always safe or celebrated to be Native. Like many Indigenous families, we were taught to hide who we were. But over the past decade, I’ve been on a journey to reclaim what was lost — reconnecting with my family, language, and traditions, and learning to walk proudly in my identity.
That spirit of reconnection inspires everything I create. Each product reflects a step in that journey — honouring resilience, family, and the beauty of nêhiyaw (Cree) culture. Through my work, I hope to share a sense of belonging and pride, and to remind others that it’s never too late to return home to who you are.
Our bannock mix is proudly created in small batches, fresh for your order. We take pride in our heritage, our product and our service and would love to hear from you.
