My name is Tessa Nepoose a Nêhiyaw-iskwêw, mother, Cree artisan from Samson Cree Nation, Treaty 6 Territory, working out of amiskwacîwâskahikan, Edmonton, AB.
I developed my passion and love for beading and sewing at the young age of twelve years old. I found inspiration & encouragement from watching my nikâwiy (mother) & nohkôm (grandmother) Margaret Thunderchild sew & bead their traditional art. It is what led me to fall in love with the creativity and skill at a young age.
The love for beading & sewing grew with me as I got older. I’ve learned so many beading & sewing techniques and styles over the years. I am blessed to carry my nikâwiy & nohkôms teachings. mopiyesîs, means hummingbird in my Cree language. My mother Alanna Nepoose & father Jonas Thunderchild continue to inspire and encourage me as I establish myself as an artist/entrepreneur. My artwork and showcase can be found on my Facebook & Instagram page ‘Amopiyesis’. I continue to work hard and share my creations with everyone. I hope you enjoy.
